Support Senate Bill 384
Support the LOCAL Act to Give Local Communities Control Over Their Nightlife
SB 384 would allow – but not require - local governments to allow bars and nightclubs to serve alcohol past 2 am and up to 4 am. Also known as the LOCAL Act (Let Our Communities Adjust Late Night), SB 384 is moving through the State Assembly, and we need your help to get it across the finish line.
Help us pass this important legislation by adding your name to our petition.
SB 384, authored by Senator Scott Wiener (SD11) was passed by the California State Senate, and now must be voted on in by the Assembly in late August or early September. You can learn more about SB 384 here.
SB 384 simply allows cities to opt in: pure local control. This optional tool for local control over nightlife will increase tax revenue and tourism, revitalize business districts, and support nightlife culture in our cities.
Adding your name to the petition will let your Assemblymember know you support SB 384. It’s important your Assemblymember hear from you!
Our California destination cities are at a disadvantage when competing with cities both nationally and internationally for tourists, conventions, and conferences. Cities like New York, Chicago, New Orleans, Atlanta and Miami Beach all enjoy late night services hours. California’s cities should have the option of deciding if they want to extend late night hours.
